In her cumulative dissertation entitled Looking, clicking, learning? Knowledge effects of textual, visual and interactive elements in science-related online news (supervised by Hajo Boomgaarden), Esther investigated whether, how and which people can benefit from novel presentation forms applied in online news about science and technology. Esther, who is currently working as a researcher at the Institute for Communication Science at TU Braunschweig (Germany), finished her PhD studies in December 2020. Now, she was honored with the sowi:doc Award 2021 of the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences (ViDSS) at the University of Vienna. The recipient of the award also receives prize money of € 1.500.
