Claudia Wilhelm received the award for her outstanding achievements and contributions in the field of women's and gender studies, which she has carried out at our department in recent years. Her research in this area focuses on the question of how traditional gender roles are replicated, reinforced, or overcome in digital media. She examines these processes with a view to representation and participation, gender norms, and power relations – for example, in the use of digital games and in dealing with hate comments within the digital space. Through her research, she has contributed significantly to the further development of current debates in gender studies and communication science on both national and international level.
