Incoming Tenure Track-Professors: Claudia Wilhelm & Tobias Dienlin

Claudia Wilhelm (University of Erfurt) and Tobias Dienlin (University of Hohenheim) will take over the Tenure Track-Professorships of "Media and Intersectionality" and "Interactive Communication" respectively. Both will join our department on September 1, 2020.

Claudia Wilhelm is currently PI of the European Union-funded project "Hate speech, gender, social networks and political parties" (GENHA) at the University of Erfurt, Germany. Prior, she was a postdoctoral researcher ("Akademische Rätin a.Z.", 2014-2020) in Erfurt. Claudia studied Media Studies, Sociology and Psychology at the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena, Germany. She was a research associate at FSU Jena since 2008 and completed her Ph.D. in 2012. Before joining the University of Erfurt, she worked at the Eberhard Karls Universitity Tübingen.

Claudia's research focus lies on gender and the media, digital communication, media use and effects as well as media economics and regulation.

We are also happy to welcome Tobias Dienlin, who is joining us from Sabine Trepte's lab at the University of Hohenheim, Germany. Tobias will be Tenure Track-Professor for "Interactive Communication". At the University of Hohenheim, he was part of the Department of Media Psychology as a postdoctoral researcher since 2016.

CV: Tobias completed his BA (2008) and MA ("Dipl.-Psych.", 2012) studies in Psychology at the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Germany. Research associate at the School of Media Management at Hamburg Media School from 2012-13. Since 2013, he was a research assistant at the University of Hohenheim, and held a postdoc position there since 2016. Tobias completed his P.hD. entitled "The psychology of privacy: Analyzing processes of media use and interpersonal communication" in February 2017. In 2013 and 2014, he spent several months in the US as visiting scholar at the School of Communication at the Ohio State University (2013) and the School of Communication of the University of California in Santa Barbara (2014).

Tobias's research interest circle around the following topics: Privacy, personality & self-disclosure; social media, communication, & well-being as well as methods and open science.
