The Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences (ViDSS) has awarded Selina a sowi:doc award 2025 for her thesis entitled Why am I seeing this? Cognitive, attitudinal, and behavioral effects of online political microtargeting, which she completed in January 2025 with "summa cum laude" (highest honors). The sowi:doc awards for outstanding dissertations are being awarded once a year and come with prize money of € 1.500.
Further, Selina received a prestigious Award of Excellence by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research, which recognizes the 40 best dissertations (nationwide) from the previous academic year. The state prize for the best dissertations is endowed with € 3.000.
Selina's dissertation was supervised by Jörg Matthes. Since the beginning of 2025, she is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Media and Communications of the University of Klagenfurt, Austria. Further information on Selina's doctoral work can be found here.
