According to the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject, the University of Vienna's Department of Communication is now ranked as the 13th best institution in the field of "Communication & Media Studies" in the world (2025: Rank 15).
QS Rankings are based on various indicators mainly related to research, i.e., number of citations, reputation among fellow academics and employers/universities as well as actual visible research output and publications in highly-ranked, international peer-reviewed journals.
