The project, conducted by the Corporate Communication Research Group (CCom) led by Sabine Einwiller, is funded under the European Union's Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. Its aim is to improve understanding of gendered ageism – a form of discrimination that often intersects with discrimination based on ethnicity, migration background, and religion – and to develop effective measures to address it. This issue is particularly important because gendered ageism limits women's participation, career advancement, and visibility in the labour market, thereby weakening Europe's social and economic potential.
The project brings together partners from Austria, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Spain, and Sweden to generate new evidence on this under-researched phenomenon and to develop and test practical solutions that promote equality and inclusion in European workplaces.
The research team at our department consists of Sabine Einwiller, Raphaela Stibor, and Ingrid Wahl, and leads the project's scientific research activities. The team is primarily responsible for the comparative data collection, evaluation, and methodological quality assurance. The European Union will fund the project with a total of € 320.000, € 67.000 of which will go into research being conducted under the umbrella of our department.
