Earlier this year, Hannah Greber, a long-term member of our department and postdoctoral researcher within the Political Communication Research Group, was awarded a prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship. For the next two years, Hannah will be working at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford (UK) and carry out her proposed project Journalism Captured by Platforms? Investigating Platform Power, Media Capture, and Journalistic Independence. In this project, she will examine how journalists perceive platform power, whether material dependencies influence how platforms are covered, and how platforms respond to critical reporting. The project idea is linked to Hannah's dissertation on immersive journalism.
Hannah defended her dissertation entitled Immersive Journalism – The Future of the News? in May 2024 with distinction under Sophie Lecheler's supervision. Prior, she was a recipient of a ÖAW-DOC doctoral scholarship from the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and worked as a predoctoral researcher within Sophie Lecheler's research group.
