The Klaus Schönbach Award of the department is awarded once per year and aims to support PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to pursue, hone, and enhance their own international line of research. The main goal is to foster international visibility and impact of young researchers in our department, and publish the results in a top-ranked journal. Two external reviewers and two members of the selection committee are responsible for the reviewing process.
This year, two projects were honored with the award.
Michaela Forrai and Alexandra Wölfle received the 1st prize for their proposal From prompts to patterns: Linking panel data with a content analysis of ChatGPT histories. The department will fund their research with a lump sum of € 2.500.
Further, Thomas Kirchmair and Aleksandra Lazić were honored with the 2nd prize (and financial support of € 2.000) for their research project The cognitive costs of convenience – How cognitive offloading to AI affects memory accuracy, critical thinking, and creativity.
The results of the research projects are always presented at an departmental meeting in the following academic year.
